Esphyr and her husband Ilya Bolotowsky spent a number of summer vacations with Ilya’s sister, Myrrah, who was also studying painting at the time. In her autobiography, Esphyr wrote a number of amusing passages about the “tall, not really beautiful but, when properly dressed, quite imposing,” Myrrah and their hot/cold relationship.
